Why: I feel this resource would be a benefit because it keeps up to date with all the current legal action regarding copyright infringement and theft of art. I selected it because it was current cases that were dealing with current brand names and well-known artist that make their cases relevant to the world today. It also gives the in-depth reason why something can be considered infringement or theft. I also felt like the information would be interesting and could help people new to the issue to understand better what infringement and theft means in the art world.

Why: I chose this website because it gives detailed descriptions of the different terms such as trade mark, copyright, and patent. It also gives you more than fifty cases to study to look for information on these type of infringement and theft cases. This website is a great reference website for cases and definitions. It also provides you the ability to file for a trademark, patent, and or copyright to protect your art. This website is a learning and growing site that can help explain and navigate all the confusion between the three.

Why: This website is directed at small businesses and the law behind patent infringement. I feel as though many of the issues that are being brought to court today are from small businesses trying to keep the big businesses from stealing their art and information. Many small businesses can not afford high priced attorneys therefore they need some guidance and free legal advice on where to start to protect themselves. I believe this website plus the secure your trademark website will help people be able to understand when and how the law works regarding copyright, trademark, and patent infringement.

What: Information Ethics – Copyright & Fair Use

Why: I chose this site and this page because people believe that a library page is always helpful. This covers fair use and the basic’s behind it and the amount of years that the individual copyrights are available. I feel like this website is more meant for a younger generation whom is wanting to learn about the beginnings of the information that is copyright laws. I selected this article because I feel like there is a very sparse understanding of the definitions and I believe that this site and this page is an amazing place to start learning.

Reflections             Initially the topic I chose was intellectual freedom which I believed would be an easy topic because there is such a discussion surrounding it currently. However, one of the first things that I learned was that there is such a blur between copyright laws, intellectual freedom, and fair use that sometimes it is hard to keep it all straight. The man issue I was looking at when I started my blog was the hard line or use and receiving credit for your creation and where does it become a legal issue. One example for me was my friend painted some blue birds and she claimed it just was the birds and nature.
